Membership

How to join, when we shoot, and what members can use.

Becoming a member

To join an Archery GB affiliated club like ours, you first need to complete a beginner’s course and receive your certificate. Then you can join Aequus Archers and shoot with us regularly through the season.

Already an archer? If you have shot at another Archery GB club, you do not need to do the course again. Contact us to join, or to join as an associate if you keep your main club.

Membership fees

21 and over
£56 a year
Associate (main club elsewhere)
£56 a year
Under 21
£36 a year
Disabled members
£36 a year

These are club fees. All members must also be registered with Archery GB and have a valid Archery GB membership, which is paid separately. That payment also covers the county (DCAA) and regional (EMAS) fees; see where we fit in.

Hiring a bow

If you do not have your own equipment yet, you can hire a kit from the club.

Adult kit (beginner bow or longbow)
£50 deposit + £15 a month
Advanced kit
£50 deposit + £20 a month
Junior kit
£30 deposit + £10 a month

Contact us to join and we will tell you how to pay.

Where we fit in

Aequus Archers is affiliated to the Derbyshire County Archery Association (DCAA), which is part of the East Midlands Archery Society (EMAS). Not to be confused with the East Midlands Ambulance Service: we hope you only ever need the archery one.

Both are part of Archery GB, the national governing body for archery. When you pay your Archery GB membership, the county and regional fees are collected at the same time, so you pay them all in one go. This is what each one does for you:

  • Archery GB: insurance for you and the club, including public liability and personal accident cover. It also sets the rules of shooting, runs the handicap and classification schemes, trains coaches and judges, and organises national competitions.
  • EMAS: regional competitions, championships and records for the East Midlands.
  • DCAA: county competitions, championships and records for Derbyshire.

When we shoot

Our outdoor season runs from late March to late October. During the season, members shoot at our field in Milford on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

There are no fixed times. Most members arrive from around 10am. Members have the gate code for the field entrance. See where to find us.

We take the field down for winter. Many members shoot indoors at other clubs until the next season starts.
